‘Cost Of Being Loved’ comes from the mind of Pop Miri, a London-based lo-fi pop artist. It’s a breezy cut that introduces a bright dream pop palette immediately, with twinkly synth countermelodies contrasting warm guitar chords. It reaches a conclusion that is euphoric and melodic, which is especially poignant considering its purpose on her upcoming album. She explains: “‘Cost of Being Loved’ is the 'retrospective' song of the album and relationship. I was able to get a sense of clarity and closure – this song is my riding away into the sunset, escaping the claustrophobia of my moral and romantic failings; saying no to self-sacrifice.” Pop Miri’s debut album, Trick Of The Light, drops on May 9th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
